The Castleton Hotel – What The Visitors Say

The Castleton Hotel prides itself on providing comfortable and clean budget accomodation in the heart of London.  Not too far from the airports and with great tube, bus, and taxi connections to the rest of the city, Paddington is an ideal base for exploring the nation’s capital.

And our guests seem to agree.  Just have a read of the few recent reviews below:

This hotel offers good value for a London Hotel. The location is great, just a couple of minutes from the station, off Praed Street with the entrance on London Street. The room was in the basement and though small was ensuite with room to hang clothes and very clean.
The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was fine, cereal, toast, juice and hot buffet with the usual eggs, bacon, beans, sausage and toast.
London Street has plenty of pubs, shops cafes and restaurants.
If you want to be close to Paddington with everything you need on the doorstep this hotel will meet your needs.

The Castleton Hotel´s best attribute is it´s location. It is close to Paddington Station and an assortment of shops, bars and eateries. I read through many accommodation types and reviews when it came to selecting a place to stay on my recent trip to London. Having stayed previously in another hotel on Sussex Gardens (which was very disappointing), I was a bit dubious. But the reviews overall for Castleton Hotel were favourable. Thus I decided to book it. The staff were friendly, welcoming and courteous. Always saying hello and goodbye/night. That is always a nice start or end to the day. The hotel on appearance was tidy (except for the elevator floor). And the foyer/entrance was neat and presentable. I had read that the rooms and bathrooms were rather small. This was an understatement. And the only real disappointment in the whole experience. Apart from that, I had a pleasant stay. And would return. Great price!

Recently my wife and I stayed at Castleton Hotel for 2 nights in October. It is true that the room is a little on the small side, and the ensuite is tiny. We had stayed at some other hotels in the same area, and believe me they have been even smaller. At least at Castleton, there was space for a chair and a small table in our room, and enough space for our suitcases without tripping over. It seems to be the standard nowadays for hotels to use pre-fabricated moulded bathroom. It is very tiny. Luckily we are not very big people, so we were OK. I can imagine people well over 6 ft tall and weighing 90 kg would find it hard to get into the shower. Also there is a lift. In other hotels, we had to lug our suitcases up three floors to our room. The other pleasant surprise was the room was fitted with air-conditioning. It was wonderful when we had the hot weather in London. The breakfast was OK too. There were cereals as well as the cooked English breakfast, which you help yourself, so you can as much or as little as you like. So on the whole, we were very happy with our stay there.
